Prisoners Eid Gifts Project – Eid ul Fitr 2018

Ramadan 2018 saw the launch of our latest project, the Prisoner Eid Gift Project.

The Muslim prison population in the UK is an often overlooked and neglected community, representing approximately 15% of the UK prison population (around 12,900 Muslims (Male and Female); they are a community that is in great need of support from the wider Muslim community.

One of our goals is to raise awareness within our communities and gather support for our brothers and sisters in the prison system through various projects; one of them is the Eid Gifts Project. With this project we aim to bring hope, happiness and re-establish a connection with our Muslim brothers and sisters in UK prisons.

Alhamdulillah, on Eid Ul Fitr – 15th June 2018, with the support of our local community and the co-operation of the staff at HMP Oakwood; we delivered 350 Eid gifts to the Muslim inmates. The project was a great success and we received excellent feedback from the Prisons Muslim Chaplain and the inmates.

“A fantastic initiative by the Niche of Lights team. The project was very successful and the inmates loved their gifts.”
